Its name is not commonly used as it is referred as Central Business District by most people of Singapore. The Downtown Core, or the Central Business District – as it is widely called, is home to the headquarters and offices of many corporations as well as the Singapore Exchange. Located between the Singapore River, Marina Bay and Chinatown in the Central Region, Downtown core is considered as the historical and downtown epicenter of the city-state of Singapore thus, many of its historical museums are located in this area. One can also see several government institutions found around the area like the Parliament and Supreme Court.
Downtown Core is an area in Singapore with one of the most industrialized and expensive residences and business centres. You can access two major roads, the Serangoon Road or the Ang Mo Kio Road that goes directly to the central area of Downtown Core. A major landmark would be the Hougang Mall that corners the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Building.
