Mitsubishi Troubleshooting

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

What's in the article?

That blinking light coming from your Mitsubishi air conditioner is an indication of an error, fault, or malfunction within your unit. Air conditioners have error codes that inform the homeowner of any problems or issues with their unit, so they can address the issue immediately before the aircon unit breaks down.

In this repair guide, we discuss all the things you need to know to diagnose a blinking light issue with your Mitsubishi air conditioner, and the step-by-step troubleshooting solutions that you can do to fix the problem.

Causes of Mitsubishi Aircon Light Blinking

The flashing light from your Mitsubishi aircon unit may indicate problems with the fan motor, which may cause poor air circulation within your unit, or a loose clasp on the bottom louver of the unit. The number of blinks determines the malfunction. You can refer to our list of error codes as a guide, or check the user manual of your aircon unit for more information:

Code Description
Continuous Blinking Wrong wiring and/or error at connecting terminal (indoor and outdoor units); Indoor/Outdoor PCB error
2-Blink Pattern Indoor thermistor error
3-Blink Pattern Faulty fan motor
4-Blink Pattern Electronic control PCB error
5-Blink Pattern Faulty compressor connection; Output voltage of inverter; Winding resistance of compressor
6-Blink Pattern Outdoor thermistor error
7-Blink Pattern Outdoor PCB error
14-Blink Pattern Outdoor unit error (refer to service manual)

However, the blinking lights won't be able to determine the root cause of the problem, which may be anything from clogged air filters, to issues with the evaporator coil or compressor unit. If your AC unit repeatedly shows an error message, or is accompanied by a clunking or hissing sound, contact aircon servicing company immediately.

Troubleshooting Solution

#1 Check the Clasp

To fix a blinking light issue, the first thing you need to do is check the clasp of the bottom louver in your indoor and outdoor unit. If this part is loose, it could be the reason why the light keeps on blinking.

When the clasp is loose or slightly jarred, it results in an automatic response from the unit in the form of two continuous blinking lights on the bottom right. This is a safety feature that Mitsubishi uses for all its Starmex aircon units.

If you happen to run into this issue, simply put them back in place and the system light should turn off immediately. However, if you’ve checked the unit and this is not the case, then you need to give it a closer look. Check which LED light is blinking. There are three variations of blinking lights that can affect your unit: the top light, the bottom light, and both.

#2 Check the Light Pattern

Count the number of blinks in each set showing up in your aircon unit. For example, if the top light is blinking for three consecutive times before pausing and starting the pattern all over again — you have one set of three blinks. Observe the blinking pattern on your air conditioner to determine the error code.

#3 Decode the Blinking Pattern

Once you have the set of the blinking pattern, refer to the unit’s manual or Mitsubishi’s error code list. For newer Starmex models (MSY-GE10/13/18/24VA or MSXY-FJ10/13/18VE), you can check the error code list inside the cover of the wall unit.

You should be able to check the issue that’s causing the blinking by referring to the error code provided by Mitsubishi. However, if you’re still unable to diagnose what’s causing the problem, contact a licensed technician for immediate aircon repair.
