Does your Mitsubishi Starmex Aircon light keep on blinking? When the lights at the bottom of your unit begin flashing repeatedly, it’s a sign that something has gone wrong.
If this is the case, don’t worry. Your aircon unit is not going down in flames nor is it planning to break down into tiny little pieces. A blinking light is simply your aircon’s way of letting you know something is amiss in its internal or external system.
In this repair guide, we discuss all the things you need to know to diagnose a blinking light issue and the many fixes that you can do to solve the problem.
How to Repair a Blinking Mitsubishi Starmex Aircon Light
1. Check the clasp of the aircon’s bottom louver.
To fix a blinking light issue, the first thing you need to do is check the clasp of the aircon’s bottom louver. If this part has not been firmly shut, it could be the reason why the light keeps on blinking.
When the clasp is loose or slightly jarred, it results in an automatic response from the unit in the form of two continuous blinking lights on the bottom right. This is a safety feature that Mitsubishi uses for all its Starmex aircon units.
If you happen to run into this issue, simply put them back in place and the system light should turn off immediately.
However, if you’ve checked the unit and this is not the case, then you need to give it a closer look. How? Pay attention to which LED light is blinking. Currently, there are three variations of blinking lights that can affect your unit: the top light, the bottom light, and both.
2. Determine the status light’s blinking pattern
After you’ve observed your unit’s light blinking pattern, start counting the number of blinks that are happening in one set. For example, if the top light is blinking for three consecutive times before hitting a small pause and starting all over again — you have one set of three blinks.
3. Decode the blinking pattern by referring to the unit’s cover or manual
Once you have the set of the blinking pattern, refer to the unit’s manual or Mitsubishi’s error code list. For newer Starmex models (MSY-GE10/13/18/24VA or MSXY-FJ10/13/18VE), you can check the error code list inside the cover of the wall unit.
You should be able to check the issue that’s causing the blinking by referring to the error code provided by Mitsubishi.
However, if you’re still unable to diagnose what’s causing the problem, it’s best to contact the nearest Mitsubishi service center or a licensed AC technician. These professionals should be able to troubleshoot and discuss with you the next steps for repair.
